Emotional intelligence can be defined as the range of skills that a person uses to deal with the everyday challenges that life brings. It is about (i) recognising our own feelings and (ii) the feelings of others, (iii) managing our own emotions and (iv) influencing the actions of others. This is important because research has shown that a person’s Emotional Intelligence (EI) is often a more accurate predictor of success than the individual’s IQ. In other words, no matter how clever someone is, their success is strongly affected by how well they communicate their ideas and interact with their peers (i.e. their EI). This half-day management master class will look at EI and by examining its core concepts will dramatically improve participants' ability to understand both their own personality, and the personality of those of the people who are important to them (e.g. friends, colleagues, customers etc.)
By attending this highly interactive and practical half-day course you will:
This course is for all managers, leaders and professional people who wish to be more successful in their dealing with others through improved self-awareness and enhanced social skills.
A brief review of EI theory, why EI matters and the main components or ‘competencies’ associated with EI.
Becoming aware of some of the underlying behaviour patterns and emotions that drive our behaviour.
Appreciating some of the methods that are available for managing one’s internal states, impulses, and resources in order to stay clam and centred in difficult situations.
Learning to ‘read’ other people so that we can accurately assess how they feel about a particular issue and can empathise with their situation.
Specific techniques for becoming adept at inducing desirable responses in others i.e. within reason, making them inclined to go along with your wishes.
Feedback is based upon peer review using Boulden assessment checklists. Completing the assessment checklists is not only valuable to the people involved in a given role play or case study, it also helps those completing them to gain an in-depth understanding of the building blocks that make up effective emotional intelligence.
All of our workshops can be delivered as Remote Training via e-learning modules plus Zoom based virtual workshops. Please see our Virtual Training page for more information.
